Associate Accountant

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Associate Accountant is responsible for providing essential support to the Accounting team by assisting with key operational accounting functions. Primary responsibilities include the accurate and timely processing of operating expenses across various functional areas, including procurement, accounts payable, and critical royalty calculations. A key focus will be assisting with the efficiency and compliance of the month-end close process, specifically through preparing necessary journal entries and performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations. The Associate Accountant will serve as a point of contact, collaborating closely with various internal teams and maintaining strong professional relationships with external vendors.

The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and strong self-drive to independently manage deadlines and contribute proactively to process improvements.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the procurement-to-pay process, including tracking contracts, purchase orders, vendor onboarding, and bill approvals
  • Monitor the AP inbox and respond to vendor inquiries promptly
  • Reconcile corporate credit card transactions weekly and ensure proper expense categorization and GL coding
  • Manage travel-related expenditures and employee expense submissions
  • Assist in the preparation of royalty statements and related financial reporting
  • Support month-end close by accruing operating expenses, preparing journal entries, and creating supporting schedules
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records for audits and compliance
  • Assist with audit and tax schedules and respond to information requests as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (formulas, reconciliation, data analysis)
  • High level of financial software literacy; experience with NetSuite, Airbase, or similar systems preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines—particularly between the 25th and 10th of each month/following month
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
