Game Release Manager

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Production, the Game Release Manager will provide a single, dedicated point of ownership for the entire release lifecycle of Aspyr’s games, from build finalization to first party submission management. This role is essential for standardizing a critical part of our business, leading to higher quality releases and a more efficient team. The Game Release Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the release lifecycle, turning a complex series of steps into a streamlined, predictable operation.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate go/no-go first party submission and release decisions
  • Own the end-to-end release process for all game titles and platforms; this includes the age rating process for all titles with relevant official bodies (e.g., ESRB, PEGI)
  • Develop, document, and champion standardized release workflows, procedures , and metrics including maintaining a live, up-to-date release calendar and building historical data sets for reference
  • Coordinate with Production, QA, Marketing, Engineering, and platform partners for all submissions; this includes direct coordination with QA management for planning and scheduling external certification passes
  • Manage and track all certification requirements and deadlines for first-party compliance
  • Communicate release status and risks to all stakeholders while providing transparency in the release pipeline
  • Identify and implement opportunities for release process automation and improvement
  • Assist with administration on any public-facing releases, including public Betas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in Release Management, or a similar role, specifically centered around the processes required to ship games
  • Experience with at least two multi-platform games taken through the full development cycle as a Release manager
  • Experience shipping titles for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, PC;
    • With experience shipping Mobile Platforms, and Mac a plus
  • Experience with submitting titles to first party on game build and store front
  • Comprehensive understanding of the game development cycle and release workflows
  • Intimate knowledge of features, compliance, and certification testing practices for major first-party platforms
  • Proven experience in managing and tracking complex, high-volume release schedules
  • Experience in implementing standardized release procedures and best practices
  • Passion for video games and software quality; familiarity with Aspyr’s catalog, a plus
  • Direct experience working within first party submission SDK’s/tools/services (e.g., Sony Partner Portal, Microsoft Partner Center) and proficiency with standard tooling like Atlassian products, along with spreadsheet and word processing application (Google Suite/Microsoft Office)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting status and risks to a wide range of stakeholders, including the Leadership team, Finance, and Heads of Departments
